FINAL SETTLEMENT PACKAGE HIGHLIGHTS
The Bargaining Committee chaired by CWA District 6 Assistant to the Vice President Sylvia J. Ramos, and members CWA Representative Tony Shaffer, CWA Local 6171 President Travis Pirotte and Executive Vice President Ken Conner, and CenturyLink elected Bargaining Committee Member Jeff Cole reached a Tentative Agreement on February 14, 2019.
Below are the highlights of the changes that we gained in the newly negotiated Tentative Agreement:
Year 1 - 1.5% increase in base wage effective retroactively to 12/30/18 * Year 2 - 1.5% increase in base wage effective 8/16/19 * Year 3 - 1.5% increase in base wage effective 8/16/20 *
* Employees in Wage Schedule 3A will receive a 1% increase to base wage and a .5% lump sum.
All employees in Wage Schedule 3 will receive a $.15 increase to base wage in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 in addition to the 1.5% increase.
Retroactivity includes the improvement to wages and any other contractual improvements that were agreed upon.
Overtime, Call Out, Sunday Pay Treatment
All hours worked on a non-scheduled workday will be paid at the overtime rate (1.5) times the basic hourly rate of pay. Double time payments will remain payable at 55 hours.
The following hours will be considered as work hours and will count towards the daily and weekly overtime calculation:
• Jury Duty • Military Leave • Non-Paid Union Time
Clarified personal holiday and employees working on designated holidays contractual language.
Improved vacation eligibility for employees with more than 10 years but less than 15 years will gain an additional 2.5 days as highlighted in the schedule below. 5 Years but < 10 Years - 120 Hours 10 Years but < 15 Years - 140 Hours 15 Years but < 20 Years - 160 Hours 20 Years but < 25 Years - 180 Hours
Employees will be allowed the following vacation options:
• Day and/or days at time vacation increments • Half-day increments • Carry-over vacation into the next calendar year • Vacation banking
Subcontracting of Work
Article 28 - Negotiated improved modified language regarding subcontracting and transfer of work along with a Letter of Understanding that the Company and Union agreed is enforceable through the grievance and arbitration procedures.
Previously negotiated 401(k) plan language to be extended with a start date of January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021.
We are hopeful that we captured our members’ demands based on the concerns presented to the members of the Bargaining Committee.

CWA and CenturyLink have agreed to return to the table to attempt to resolve outstanding issues on Feb 12 - 13, 2019.
The Local has reached out to the District to get an update on bargaining for CenturyLink. As of now we are still trying to get dates from CenturyLink on when we can get back to the table. The sticking points are still dealing with the language for contract labor and the 401K plan. As soon as we get the dates we will update everyone.
