Windstream Bargaining Report #7

Your Bargaining Committee started early with Windstream today. Windstream provided your Bargaining Committee with information we requested regarding the pension, resulting in dialogue. Your Bargaining Committee countered their proposals and the company asked for a lot of clarification on verbiage. We still have a few differences, but it’s evident that we are getting closer to an agreement. Remind management you want a fair and just contract!! Wear red on Thursday and black on Friday.

Windstream Bargaining Report #6

2/25/2020

Your Local 6171 Bargaining Committee met with the company this morning to discuss the company’s amended proposal on healthcare. The Union had numerous questions in regard to how the calculation of health care premiums work and are determined. The Union passed a counter proposal to Health Care. The Union submitted a detail specific information request pertaining to the pension that we are currently awaiting answers from the company. Discussion carried on into the evening where the company responded to our request for information over negotiated holiday work submitted on 2/24/2020. Currently the Union and the company have several meaningful proposals on the table. You Bargaining Committee is working diligently to bring home a fair and just contract. Stay united and wear red on Thursday and black on Friday!!!

We resumed negotiations today, February 24, 2020 and we keep in the forefront of our minds that our current CBA expires this Friday, February 28, 2020 at midnight.

We met with the company multiple times today and continued researching their proposals and how they would affect us collectively. The company countered a couple of their initial proposals after your Bargaining Committee rejected them at the end of our last session on February 14, 2020. It appears both parties are committed to getting an agreement, but there are more issues to be resolved. Remind your managers that all we want is a fair and just contract!! Remember to wear red on Thursday and black on Friday.

Windstream Bargaining Report #4

Your Bargaining Committee finished out the first week of bargaining on today. Many items were thoroughly discussed including but not limited to the movement of work, holidays, vacation, pensions and the medical plans. We are working diligently to get as much clarification and information from the company on their intent and reasoning as possible. The company passed a proposal regarding the cancellation of Retiree Life Insurance. This item is not in the contract nor a mandatory subject of bargaining. Once the Union informed the company we had no interest in agreeing to do away with this, the company informed us that they would cancel this on February 28, 2020. We told the company that this was a cowardly move and it was NOT the Union that caused the bankruptcy, but the company executives that did. We have been told it was business as usual and that’s how we are approaching these negotiations. Again, this was life insurance not in the contract. If you would like specifics on it, please ask your manager why they are cancelling it. We will resume negotiations on Monday, February 24, 2020. Expiration is on February 28, 2020. We ask the membership to stay united, remain strong and demand a fair and just contract from you manager.

Windstream Bargaining Report #3

Your Bargaining Committee met with the company for discussion over proposals and counter proposals that have been made from both sides. We are currently reviewing  information that has been requested from the company. We are assessing pension and 401k data. As your Committee, we are working diligently to gather as much information as possible to combat the retrogressive proposals made by the company. You need to tell your managers that the members are not the cause for the bankruptcy but the CEO is and we will not take concessions to pay for their mistakes as they still collected over 15 million in salary, bonuses and incentives. Stand up and demand a Fair and Just contract from the company. Make sure you work to the rule and work safely.
